ROP 2012-2013 CalendarThe University of California Curriculum Integration (UCCI) InstituteThe University of California Curriculum Integration (UCCI) InstituteThe University of California hosts the UC Curriculum Integration Institutes in northern and southern California three times a year. The UCCI Institutes bring together educators from around the state to collaborate on the creation of model high school courses that anchor traditional academic learning in real-world experience, by integrating career technical education (CTE) with “a-g” subjects. UCCI Insitute courses are designed to be rigorous and relevant, to keep students engaged in learning and to prepare them for college and career success. APPLICATION NOW OPEN: SUMMER 2012 UCCI INSTITUTES July 15-18, 2012 Health/History Institute: Apply to this Institute to create an outline for one integrated course that combines one career pathway of the Health Science and Medical Technology CTE industry sector with history/social science (“a”). ICT/Math Institute: Apply to this Institute to create an outline for one integrated course that combines one career pathway of the Information and Communication Technologies CTE industry sector with mathematics (“c”). At the Institutes, participants are assigned to course-development teams of six to nine educators. Each team then develops ONE course suitable for implementation in any California high school. Further work may be required of participants after the Institute to produce a finished course ready for UC to review. High school teachers, counselors, curriculum developers and administrators are invited to apply to one of the two Summer 2012 UCCI Institutes. Please review the Expectations of Course Developers before you apply. CostsAll costs for meals, lodging and Institute materials are covered by CTE funding from the California Department of Education. UC encourages districts and schools to cover travel and substitute costs for selected applicants. UCCI Institutes Courses at Your High SchoolComplete course outlines developed at the UCCI Institutes are accessible online.
